Why do both Albert Einstein and me have 1 vote each???

what is a democracy?
The simple answer is- everyone has an equal say (from the moron to einstein) and the majority wins!

You can make it more complicated- but then the whole blog will be a 100 pages long and we will still not agree on anything.

Ok, so another assumption about democracy is that democracy is good for humanity. This is based on yet another assumption that the people know what is good for themselves and the majority will more often than not make the right choices.

SO, given a choice between living a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle- people in a democracy will choose health.

given the choice between large SUVs and small fuel efficient japanese cars -people will go for green.

given the choice between an Indian throwing garbage on the street or walking 300 yards to a dustbin- he will walk to the bin.

Given a choice the politician would not take the bribe and do what is right for the people.

BY THESE AND MANY OTHER EXAMPLES- (tobacco industries and retailers) - I THINK THE MAJORITY DOES NOT USUALLY MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES (65% americans are overweight and sedentary and many more do poorly in maths and science - isnt doing well at school the right thing to do?)

So that means people dont always really know whats right for them , and that means (quite easily done) that democracy is not always good!

the success of any democratic nation is a function of the  education, intelligence and integrity of its citizens.

Lets make the right choices before it is too late.
