The perfect day

It rained yesterday.
And the fresh clean water flowed down from the roof into the reservoir.
Some of it went to the solar still that evaporated and recondensed water into its purest form - still warm- good for my coffee after minimum rewarming. On the way I grabbed some eggs from the coop and milk from the goats.
I went to the garage- actually just a metal roof with solar panels on 4 posts- and my nissan leaf was waiting- fully charged.
I drove the 15 miles to my hospital- no gas! Parked my car and attached the wire to the socket.
worked 10 hours in an almost paperless world- dictating right into my phone and uploading images and patient notes into the system.
I drove back home- again-no gas! - and went fishing in my fish pond.
The water from the fish pond drains into my topsy -turvy vegetable garden- in the green house that surrounds my house 360 degrees- providing insulation from the cold. The metal roof has a row of wind turbines and solar panels. Double pane windows have the blinds in between- no cleaning.
In summer, the green house would make things hot- but the house is designed with the south facing windows much lower than the northern ones making sure the hot air constantly rises upwards and out. The greenhouse glass panes open just like glass windows and the breeze coming into the house passes over the water reservoir- cooling as it comes in.

The LED lights start to dim automatically at 730 pm.I grill the fish i caught, harvest a rabbit and a hen for the guests today (a get together of the local think-tank- philosophy, science, news, worldly stuff) and get some wine from the cellar. The grill runs on biogas- the goats, chicken, rabbits and dying plants produce enough for my needs.

the dinner ended- the organic waste went into the compost and the recycle-able stuff went to the recycle bin.
The bath water is solar heated , cleaned and recycled internally (only biodegradable beauty products and soaps). The bath cleans automatically and the toilet is water conserving ,state -of-art from israel.
happy- I sleep -Geothermal energy helping in heating my home to a constant 72..

CARBON FOOTPRINT= NEAR ZERO !! although I used the electricity at the hospital, created some garbage, used some stuff from the local farmers market and some from walmart (stuff I cant grow on my own) I MINUS the solar electricity surplus I fed back into the city grid, the extra water I poured back into the water table, recycling, compost , biogas and the anti-global warming effect of the plants in my garden.

One day- this will be reality- hopefully soon, hopefully soon enough!!
